Navigating PGCPS || Transportation || Family Support Center – Learned how the Department of Special Education can support you and how to navigate the Chain of Command when questions arise regarding student programming, services, school team challenges. Also learned about the Family Support Center as a resource for parents in the system, and about Transportation for your child to and from school. |

Parent Role in the IEP Process – Learned about how to be actively involved as an equal partner at your child’s IEP meeting in all aspects of the IEP planning, discussion and decision making. |

Parent Panel: Advocacy for a Lifetime – An evening of open, honest dialogue with veteran parents of students with disabilities. They shared experiences on advocacy over the lifespan, and provided advice for best practices and positive outcomes. |

School Transitions – Learned what to expect during transitions from preschool, elementary, middle, high school and post-secondary. Roundtable discussions will cover each of these specific transitions. |

Disproportionality and Equity – We learned about PGCPS’s strategic plan to reduce and eliminate the disproportionate number of students with disabilities and students of color who are suspended or expelled. New state regulations were reviewed. |

Supporting Families with Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through the RDI Process and One World Center Partnership – April is Autism Awareness Month. The focus of this evening was to learn more about autism spectrum disorder and ongoing PGPCS initiatives that provide support to families and teachers through the RDI process. |
